Mario Bates discovered pickleball in August 2022 and quickly developed a deep passion for both the sport and its growing community. Recognizing the importance of accessible, high-quality instruction, Mario began coaching in 2023, teaching in grammar schools, high schools, and recreational centers to help players of all ages build a strong foundation in the game.
A Certified Level 1 Pickleball Coach, Mario specializes in working with beginner and intermediate players. His coaching approach focuses on proper technique, strategic development, and building confidence on the court. Mario is especially passionate about offering instructional play that supports athletes transitioning from other sports, as well as helping dedicated players elevate their overall pickleball performance.
Driven by a vision to expand the reach of professional pickleball coaching, Mario founded Different Strokes Pickleball Group LLC, a coaching collective designed to promote the sport through certified, knowledgeable instructors. Through this organization, he continues to create inclusive and encouraging environments where every player—regardless of background or experience—can grow, progress, and enjoy the game.
